Avoid Paying Commission On Your Next Vacation

You want to save money on your next vacation, don't you?

Of course you do. We all do. Even people who are spending tens of thousands of dollars on vacations don't want to spend more than they need to spend.

In fact, many travelers forego the help and expertise of a travel agent because they don't want to pay the commission. 

Let me tell you how you can avoid paying commission and still get someone else to handle all the details of your vacation.

Book with a travel agent.

"Wait, Christine, I just told you that I don't want to pay that extra commission."

Newsflash -- you are ALWAYS paying a commission.  A commission is built into every single vacation package, cruise vacation and hotel room. 

Every. Single. One. 

You can't avoid it.

The only question is who gets the commission. Either the money goes to huge companies like Disney, Sandals, Expedia or Orbitz or it stays with your local travel agent.

The real question is, "What do you want to get for the money that you are paying?"

Do you want to pay that money and get an 800 number (that likely rings overseas) to call if you have a question or a problem or do you want to work with someone who has been to the destination and actually cares about your trip?

"Well, Christine, some of those big companies rebate the commissions to me as discounts." 

No, they don't.  Any deal you find online, your travel agent can find as well. Plus, he or she may have access to even better deals that you can't find and/or some additional perks for your trip.

So what's the bottom line?

Booking with a travel agent doesn't cost you more. You are always paying a commission.  It just depends on what you want to get for your money.
