Vacations with Meaning

You want more than just an amazing vacation - you want travel that allows you to give back and make a positive impact on the places you visit. The Sandals Foundation makes it easy to have both - this non-profit organization helps Sandals Resorts and its guests make a difference for the environment and people of the Caribbean.

With the goal of empowering the local community, fostering education, and developing environmentally conscious practices, the Sandals Foundation offers several ways for guests visiting Sandals and Beaches Resorts to give back. Whether you want to bring your teaching talents beyond your own classroom, support local business growth, or learn about how to support the environment in the Caribbean, there are plenty of opportunities to give back and make an impact.

Pack for a Purpose

The Sandals Foundation partnership with Pack for a Purpose allows guests staying at Sandals and Beaches Resorts to make a meaningful contribution to help meet the needs of the people and places they visit by packing and bringing up to five pounds of school supplies and other needed items for local communities. These items can be dropped off at the Front Desk, and will be distributed to local recipients.

Make an Impact Beyond Your Classroom

There are some great opportunities for teachers, students, and guests to make a difference in the Caribbean!

  • Reading Road Trip: Take a trip to a local school to help improve the students' reading skills! Read together with students in local schools as part of this volunteer literacy enhancement program, which aims to improve listening, reading, and comprehension skills of local children ages 3-6 years. This program is available from mid-September to mid-June on Thursdays.

  • Island Impact: This volunteer opportunity is available for full-time students staying at Beaches Resorts, and allows them to help with local community projects.

Community and Environment Opportunities

Island Routes offers a variety of excursions for guests to book to explore their island destination, and guests who want to give back can choose from a variety of Community Routes Tours, which offer opportunities to help the local community and environment.

  • Turtle Release: Available in Ocho Rios from June through December, this tour gives guests an opportunity to witness the hatchlings of endangered sea turtles emerge from their nests and start their journey into the open sea. Guests get a chance to speak with local researchers and enjoy a rare, hands-on experience with sea turtles in their natural habitat. Proceeds from this tour benefit turtle conservation efforts in the Caribbean.

  • Oistins Express and Gros Islet Friday Night Street Party: Available in Barbados and St. Lucia respectively, you can spend an evening in these communities and take in the diverse culture and food. All proceeds give back to fostering local community businesses and infrastructure.
